Z133-2026 is Now Available!

The Z133-2026 Safety Standard is now available through the ISA web store in English and Spanish with digital and print options. The digital options in both English and Spanish is provided in downloadable PDF format for individual use, available through the ISA web store at no cost. This involves adding the free product to your webcart, checking out, and then accessing it as a digital product through your MyISA account dashboard. If you do not already have a MyISA account, you will be prompted to create one on checkout. There is no charge for the digital standard or for creating a MyISA account.

The digital version of the standard is for individual use only—not for sharing or distribution—but you are welcome to download it and keep it on any of your devices for easy access. The print options in English and Spanish will be available for purchase at the ISA retail ($29.95) or member ($24.95) price, providing you with a high-quality print version of the standard with a spiral binding. A bulk discount is available to pre-approved bulk purchasers wishing to buy 25 or more copies of the standard. ISA also offers a licensing option for companies that wish to print or distribute their own copies internally. An in-person meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 for the 2030 revision cycle in Baltimore, MD from 8:00AM-5:00PM EDT.

What is the Z133?

This is an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited standard which contains arboriculture safety requirements for pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees; cutting brush; and for using equipment in such operations.

Who creates it?

The standard is a collaborative effort of industry experts and representatives. The development of the standard is done under a five year revision cycle. Contributors consist of an Accredited Standards Committee (Voting Members), Task Chairs/Groups and interested parties. The revision cycle also includes a public review period.

Who needs it?

Employers engaged in pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees; cutting brush; or performing pest or soil management related to tree care who hire one or more persons to perform such work. Other stakeholders would include contractors of such services and manufacturers and suppliers of equipment used in the provision of those services.

When is the Z133 revised?

The Z133 is revised on a five-year cycle, though the exact time can vary. The current edition is the Z133-2017. We are going through audit, reaccreditation, and approval steps with ANSI before the Z133-2025 can be published, but the 2025 cycle committee work is completed. A new committee is in place to begin the process for the 2030 revision.
